“Ask Richard – Fireplace Help & Advice”

Experience Passed Down Through Generations

The company’s owner, John Coulthard, grew up around the fireplace trade. John’s father, John Coulthard Senior, began his career in the fireplace industry during the 1960s, working as a professional fireplace installer for the renowned Blackpool company Sellers Fireplaces.

That early experience provided an invaluable understanding of fireplaces from the ground up – not simply how they look, but how they are constructed, installed and work within people’s homes.

John Senior later joined The Fireplace Superstore, bringing decades of practical knowledge and experience with him.

Over the years, that knowledge was passed on to John and to Richard Bailey, and today those many years of combined experience continue to be shared with The Fireplace Superstore’s advice and sales team.

It means that when customers visit us today, the advice they receive isn’t simply based on reading manufacturers’ brochures or looking at specifications.

It is built upon generations of practical fireplace experience, combined with almost 40 years of helping customers at The Fireplace Superstore itself.

Of course, fireplaces have changed enormously since the 1960s. Today’s luxury gas fires, electric fires, media walls and modern wood-burning stoves incorporate technology that could scarcely have been imagined then.

But one principle hasn’t changed:

Give customers knowledgeable, straightforward advice and help them choose the right fireplace for their home.
